Hold Steady tickets without the Ticketmaster tax

The Hold Steady

It should be fun.

Update: This show has been sold out -- apparently things changed since we originally posted the info.
___

The Hold Steady, high priests in the Church of Latter Day Boss, are playing Valentine's March 31.

Advance tickets are now on sale. They're $17 -- but as @erikimorton points out, there's a hefty Ticketmaster tax on top of that.

So, we called up Valentine's today to find out if there was a way to avoid paying the Ticketmaster Man. Alas, the answer is "no" for advance tickets.

But stay positive, boys and girls in America! Not all the tickets for the show are being put up through Ticketmaster. About half of them are being held for day-of sales. So if you show up a little early that day, you should be able to score tickets for the door price of $17 flat.

Heidi would be so proud of you two.

Jess- did anyone email her this? We talked about the added fee a couple days ago actually.

i AM so proud

also, i'm a little confused - when i talked to valentine's on the phone a few weeks ago they said you could walk into the club and buy tickets to avoid the fees. maybe they changed their mind?

The Hold Steady/Springsteen comparisons are lame, lazy, and played out.

I will be one of the people showing up the night of the show, crossing my fingers that there are still some tickets left at the door...

Stuff and rumor, I'm afraid - or just out of date. Either way, here is what's posted on the venue website:

By the way, RE: The Hold Steady - It’s sold out. Stop calling and asking if there are tickets available. Stop emailing and asking if there are tickets available. Stop running me down at Taco Bell and asking if there are tickets available. there.are.no.tickets.available. -Howard

Yep, this was posted in early January. Apparently things changed in the interim.

This makes me sad. No tickets available at the door? Thanks a lot Valentine's. I'm glad their coming to town, but now I wish they had booked a larger venue instead. Maybe Revolution Hall next time?

Say Something!

[C]ommon sense tells me (yes, I know one is on dangerous ground when invoking common sense) there's room for consensus here. Or at least compromise. Although something tells me the city won't back off its regulation against live chickens performing in those stand-up comedy showcases. I guess the city has this thing about chickens.
