The upcoming heat wave

One of the side effects of all this cold weather is that temperatures that otherwise would be awfully chilly have ended up feeling... not so bad. It's 25 degrees? Why am I wearing a coat?

With that in mind, we're getting our shorts and sunblock ready for Thursday (or perhaps we're succumbing to paradoxical undressing). The paraphrased forecast from the National Weather Service:

Today: Sub-freezing, but not that bad
Tuesday: About the same. Could be windy.
Wednesday: Same.
Thursday: Heat wave. Sunny. High of 37.
Friday: Absolutely broiling. High of 38.
Weekend: A little cool. Temps nears 30.

The extended forecast:

68 days until spring
37 days until pitchers and catchers arrive for spring training
30 days until a 7 am sunrise
14 days until a 5 pm sunset

It's funny to think that years ago on the banks of the short lived 6th Great Lake, Lake Champlain, that as soon as it hit 45 degrees the shorts, tube tops and porch parties came out. When it's -10 all winter, 45 might as well be 85. It IS all relative.

@Barold: don't forget, it's only 65 days til St. Patrick's Day! :)

@Summer - YES! That's the spirit!

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. [C]ommon sense tells me (yes, I know one is on dangerous ground when invoking common sense) there's room for consensus here. Or at least compromise. Although something tells me the city won't back off its regulation against live chickens performing in those stand-up comedy showcases. I guess the city has this thing about chickens.
