Kinda awesome cities

Portfolio.com has come up with a ranking of "the best cities for young adults" (in this case, "young" = 18-34). The Albany area was #24 on the list of the 67 largest metros (methodology). Number one? Austin. (Surprise.) [via]

Looking at the criteria for the ranking, I can't even imagine what the "ranking" even proves. Useless data.

The methodology seems skewed to favor capital cities, which for all demographics generally have lower unemployment rates, steady population growth, and generous proportions of folks with college degrees and high incomes. Still, the point stands that capitals like Albany are good places for "young adults" to be.

[C]ommon sense tells me (yes, I know one is on dangerous ground when invoking common sense) there's room for consensus here. Or at least compromise. Although something tells me the city won't back off its regulation against live chickens performing in those stand-up comedy showcases. I guess the city has this thing about chickens.
